  2. A - alcohol E - epilepsy, endocrine or electrolyte imbalance I - insulin or low blood sugar O - opiates or other drugs U - uremia T - trauma or temperature I - infection P - psychogenic or poison S - shock, stroke, or shunt obstruction there are bazillions of them. depends on which / what you want to focus on IE: Assessment / treatment Oh yeah, just a word of caution - - Nursing staff have many acronyms for their work as well. some of which are duplicated in our field, sometimes they mean the same thing, but other times, like in the post above "D/SA", can mean multiple things to multiple fields of study :?
  3. the cop walking in and asking if they had dosed narcan yet..... "you guys give him any of that narcan stuff yet...." hehe, that still cracks me up - despite being confused. I'm pretty sure i'm clear on it now - AED protocol, extra manpower - i get it. that tends to happen with protocols.....even the users get confused sometimes...hehe oh well, on to bigger and better things in life...
  4. hehe. Proof in the pudding how a little info picked up on previous scenes and blatent assumptions totally take you down the wrong road. (Speaking as to the cops comment, that is...) I am too, however, confused at the AED response? even our volunteer fire / first responders have SAED capabilities. You can perform a 12-lead with telelmetry, but no defib? even a preset defib? Me Confused.
