Horse Patrol EMT

Recommended Posts

Hey, just trying not to reinvent the wheel on this. Anyone worked as an EMT on horseback? My job already had me on the Horse Patrol Unit and recently I was able to get an EMT Basic course as well. What's the best way to carry necessary lifesaving gear on the horse itself? Trying to not have to wear a big backpack while up there. I'm currently aware of just filling up horn bags, saddle bags, etc. Are there any websites directed towards supplies of this nature? Any specific training to have the horse more conditioned for certain scenarios, etc? Thanks for any knowledge on this!

that's a toughie, I would think that since you aren't carrying ALS equipment and just basic equipment that you could use some larger sized saddle bags to store your jump kit. Or I believe that there are things that you can place behind your saddle on the horses that would fit larger items like a AED.

So what venues are you using your horse on?
