I would only use the one we had issued when I was doing an event.  That way I could walk away from the unit and have the small essentials.  I would have several pairs of gloves, trauma shears, pen light, note pad/pen, and a CPR mask.

 

I too find it odd you are required to carry one on the unit but aren't told what to put in it.

 

As a student you should always have tons of pens (black only), notebook for taking notes, an ECG ruler, and any protocol/info you think you might need...

Ours isn't anywhere as fancy as that, just a cabinet with a key.

It meets the requirements of secure storage & tracking put on us by the state.

Everyone get's their own pin # and we can download who has accessed the vault onto the laptop for tracking purposes.

Keeps them happy and off our backs.
