It will be the worst thing to happen in the UK ambo service if this ever happens!

From the article:

The Ambulance Service Network also believes the move could be motivated by fears over fire service funding, which comes from the DCLG.

Yeah think ?

Once again (but on a different continent) the hose monkeys use the same methodology of a claim to faster response tine TO SCENE ... and after that the FF clock stops, yet for EMS the clock just got started.

Not to forget that during a global ressession that somehow a complete restructuring of services will not cost MORE to accomplish this foolish goal, instead of funding the EMS services to attain the "golden response time"

Does it get more daft ? Fund the service to the level required instead of throwing out the baby with the bathwater when one needs just change the nappy.

Has everyone in government just dropped IQ about 20 points ?

Maybe address this issue FIRST ?

AMBULANCES are being called out by people for stubbed toes, pimples, pizza deliveries, lifts home and even help opening cans of cat food, authorities say.

I hope this doesn't come to pass. I'd hate to see the UK EMS system dumbed down and become like the US EMS system is.

*Kiwi chokes on his cucumber sammich and spits out his warm beer

Oh damn it to the bowels of bloody hell!

Never have I seen the focus on clock stopping than the UK with its downright perverse obsession with triage and "call connect" so heck the Fire and Rescue Services might have a fighting chance here.

Now, how many Firefighters want to go to University for two (FdSc) or three (BHSc) years to get qualified as a State Registered Paramedic?

How many would want to.

Some struggle with putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff.

From what I've read in first-hand accounts of the North East Ambulance service, ambulances are already co-habitating with firefighters, but that's as far as the firefighters on the street want to take it. They don't even go to MVCs, for cryin out loud- you want more runs, start there!
