  1. Hey everyone. Well looks like am will be moving to Louisiana around September. Does anyone work around there that wouldn't mind sharing what its like down there. What are some good companies to work for? I will be living just outside of LSU. Any info would be great! Thanks!

So if you do treat someone that does not want to be treated will you be punished or is this just a matter of what the pt actually wants?
  3. Well this one is actually kind of cute even if it isn't what 911 is for http://wimp.com/kidmath/
  4. I think they already have, at least at my school. I just finished their EMT program and took the NREMT exam, not the state. And I looked at their site and it said that at the end of their medic program you could take the NR for that too. I am currently taking a&p and am going to start their medic program but it doesn't start until sep, so I am trying to get a job until then. I just don't know that it is worth the extra $$ to try and get into an accredited school, if I can still get the national at another school.
  5. Thank you! I will defiantly consider all of that! I am sure I will have many questions to come!
  6. Ok, dumb question. In the long run, what is the difference between an accredited program like Center for Medics (the only one in MA and only 30 min from me!) then a program from a community college? I took an EMT program at a community college and was planning on doing their medic program as well. That being said I want to get the BEST training possible and the $$ was roughly the same.
  7. Do you think it would be wise to start medic school soon with no emergency experience other that that a 50hr internship?
  8. Is there anyone here that works or has worked at Fallon EMS in MA? I am applying to different places and basically I want to know of they do more 911 or transfers. I am trying to get some good 911 experience before I start medic school so I am hesitant to apply to places that are mainly transfer. I have met a few people that transferred out of there after a while but is it a good place to start? Thanks!
  9. I just finished my EMT course after graduating HS. As far as learning the information, the tests were a piece of cake( at least the ones my teacher gave us) but I still studied my butt off because I knew that all the information will count at some point. I don't know how long your course will be but they cram in a lot if info in a short amount of time and most of the people there would just study what they needed to pass the test, we didn't even go through the whole book. I made sure that I read the whole book and researched EVERY thing that was discussed in class. I was one of the youngest in the class but by the end of the semester people were asking me to run their scenarios and quiz them (teaching someone else something is the best way to learn and remember it!) I still have to take the written exam but I have a good bit experience on an ambulance and I don't find that my age hinders me much. As long as you are willing to learn and ask question no one really cares how old you are. If you decide to go for it, make some connections with the older more experienced people in the class. Demonstrate to your instructors that you really want to learn and always volunteer to do things and they will see that and help you more than the kids playing on their phone in the corner. I was lucky enough to know someone that has been in EMS for a while so I keep in touch with him discuss everything I am confused with. Hope that helps
