Feeling you pain.... I don't think I know any medics that don't suffer some anxiety, insomnia etc.... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I worry myself sick about jobs that don't go well...... Part of being any sort of clinician I guess Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

  3. Ringburner added a post in a topic Don't know if I can keep doing this

It's a funny "business" filled with weird personalities/egos. I work with some seriously odd people on a daily basis......
I guess you have to just look past the BS sometimes and just focus on patient care, always and without fail act in good faith, and in the best interests of the patient. If you can go to bed at night knowing you've done the best job you can and with integrity then all the other inter-personal bs doesn't matter, I think.
It's gotten me by for nearly 5 years now and I'm far (very very far) from the sharpest tool in the shed!!

My 2 cents..... They should have a VERY passive role and basically should be with a FF buddy who is in charge of their safety. This is almost impossible in the real world, so should they even be there?

I'm not saying that they should or shouldn't...... I'm asking

We ONLY have the masks here in NZ but I've often wondered if the mouthpiece would be more effective

  8. Ringburner added a post in a topic Walking Patients to the Ambulance

Definitley carried WAY too many before...... An exercise in ass covering I guess.

I'm certainly not allowing people to walk who are too unwell to do so!!!!

As EMT's/Medics our backs are one our most important tools!!
I've just come back to work post a nasty back injury and I'm far more choosy about which patients I carry to the vehicle now.

You have to consider a number of factors I suppose - Complaint, Status, Weight, Extrication Difficulties, Distance to Ambulance......

I can think of examples where I've seen patients who are relatively sick being walked to the vehicle due to their weight or hazards in their home......

I don't think I've ever seen a written procedure here in New Zealand (Kiwi please point it out if I've missed it!!!) but I think anyone who's been around for a while knows who needs carrying and who doesn't!!
