  1. Just stop posting and walk away. No need to delete everything. But I've been told there's no way to delete everything as well.
  2. EMS_1, that was not a book. A book would have been shorter. ha ha ha But sorry Sounds like you have a breadth of experience. Maybe you could jump in where AK is leaving off and help out the newbies in their ever expanding quest for learning.
  3. I seem to remember you but welcome back, stick around, don't go away this time and continue to contribute.
  4. The both of you had better learn something dammit. And Anthony, if you win the airway gauntlet a 2nd time in a row, you better give me those shears you won last time since I provided your hotel room and all that.
  5. Johnson County Med Act just put together a Bike Team. You can get their info at WWW.jocoems.org I'm sure they would love to talk to you. PM me for some names.
  6. MY GOD 101 miles per hour. HOLY crap. What emergency constitutes allowing anyone driving in their personal or government owned vehicle that fast? The officer had to catch up to this guy to stop him from killing someone. In my opinion he does not deserve to work in this field. But what will happen is that he will eventually make captain
  7. HOLY SHIT, this story just makes me so sad for the family and is a tragedy. Also how the hell was there a way that this kiddo could have fallen in the enclosure. You can bet that there is no check with the right amount of zeros that can make this right. Plus I'll bet that the next time the zoo is open the gazebo will no longer be open for people to walk into and after the court case that is bound to occur, the gazebo will be a thing of the past. I can say for certain that if it was my child, I would have been in that enclosure after him. What I read was that the zoo keepers came and shood the animals away which they did. but they did have to shoot one of the dogs. So the dogs were afraid of humans so having someone go in after the child may have helped but who knows. But I would have given it my best try. I'd have gone out trying to save my child. But my heart breaks for this family as well as the animals because many people will call for their deaths because of their killing the child.
  8. Staff nurse versus CEO? Actor versus public school teacher Set Designer versus Army Private Come on, couldn't she at least have given some comparable jobs rather than CEO Versus Staff nurse. So disparate that her article no longer is valid. Set designer versus Army private. At least if she's going to compare those two she should have compared military branches rather than civilian versus military. Her article is specifically written to get you to go to her site to let Salary.com help you find a new job or get more money. The article is a crock of crap. How bout Nurse versus EMT or something along that line.
  9. That makes sense but in the end they were really really wrong. But I dont think they would have been right either way. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  10. The question is why were they out there in the first place? Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  11. So how will you support the website? I'm sure this will become a money pit if it starts to get big, do you have the funds to continue it once the site gets really big.
  12. His mother wants the police to do this????? Norton's mother has asked the school to develop a policy for police to check offices every day. Seriously, that's a bit of a stretch in anyones book.
  13. Destiny, welcome to the site. Where in Mizery er Missouri are you? I'm in the KC MO area. Good luck, and if I can help you in any way, drop me a pm, even though I'm mostly retired from EMS, I still have a lot of contacts in EMS out there. Take care.
  14. They are all on the East Coast with no power.
  15. I'm a member now. I didn't see any companies that had any jobs open. Hopefully that will change. What I did notice was that the descriptions of the company that you have listed are pretty narrow and it's difficult to read. I would suggest widening that text out a bit. Other than that, I do hope it works out. Many have tried, few have succeeded. Wish you a lot of luck.

  17. When I first started as an EMT I got my certs in Kansas, Missouri,Iowa, nebraska and Illinois as well as Florida. I said what the hell, I could go anywhere and do anything. Then the reality of the low pay that a emt made which was diddly hit me and I realized that all the stuff that I had gathered would cost more to move than I was willing to pay. So I divested myself of a bunch of crap and decided that I would look into moving somewhere exotic like Iowa or Florida and found that in 1992 the market was oversaturated with EMT's in the places I would want to work. I was haughty taughty and didn't want to work Rural, I wanted a busy 911 service that got all the calls. Now I don't wish to work urban, I want rural as it's better in MY opinion. So I realized that for every job for an emt out there, there were 50 emt's trying to get that one job and many of those jobs you had to be a hosejockey. I had no desire to be a firefighter. So I had a decision to make. Be an emt for insanely low wages or get more education and be a medic or go even further. I took the 2nd route, got my medic and there you are. But that opened a whole new set of issues. You now at that time the registry was NOT a standard, so you had to travel to each respective state you wanted to possibly work in and take their state test unless that state gave you reciprocity and as a medic they usually did not give reciprocity unless they fully accepted national registry and at that time only about 8 states accepted the registry. So with low medic wages at the time (not much better now but adjusted for inflation), I was only able to travel to nebraska, Iowa and kansas to become licensed in those states, and believe you me, Kansas, nebraska and Iowa are no where near glamorous states.(HA HA). So as you can see, even back then, our licensures are NOT as portable as you think they are. So my advice to you is this. Get your emt and work in california for a little while to make sure that you really like the emt life since in your original post you say you just stumbled upon the emt life and now you are looking at it as a way to travel to country(at least that's how I read it). It would suck if you spent all this time learning this stuff and spending all this money to open this portal to this US travel lifestyle and you end up hating this type of work. Once you have determined that you do indeed like this type of work, get your medic from a degree granting university and then decide what state you might want to go work in and go get your license there as well. But remember, when you leave one pasture to go to a supposed greener pasture there are often times, many brown blades of grass in the pasture you move to. Good luck, let us know what you decide.
  18. Yeah, I was talking to a crane guy who says that there are several types of cranes that are placed on tops of buildings like this one. He said that the one that collapsed is probably not one designed to be folded but he can't be sure based on the pictures but there are several other models that can be folded. He hopes that all of those cranes on tops of any building in the path of this storm have been secured but he says that he will bet his next paycheck that about 25% of them have not been. He says that more than likely it's going to take another crane to be brought in to remove it or a specialty team of guys and gals to come in and dissasemble this crane from the tip up in order to bring it down safely, unless mother nature does it for them. Let's hope that it can be done safely.
  19. I think that it may be one that could be folded but yes you may be right. But if it is one that could be removed oy vey Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Live pictures from traffic Cam in Cleveland. These are waves pushed by the winds from the Hurricane. And this is on Lake Erie, not the ocean but Lake Erie. Amazing. http://fox4kc.com/2012/10/29/watch-waves-crash-in-cleveland-on-lake-erie/
  21. It is now reported that the HMS bounty's replica has sunk. There are two crew members missing but the coast guard saved 14. What a waste. Why were they out there in those seas when they knew what the storm was like? Questions that will of course be answered in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the survivors of those two crewmen. Dumb dumb dumb.
  22. Whatever bright star who decided to leave the crane up there in 95 mile per hour winds might be looking for another job about now.
  23. come on dude, you are jealous because our news guys have nothing better to do than report on this feel good story. I mean, I'd be jealous too if the story was on the other foot. ha ha ha on a alternate note, how you doing Kat?
  24. ok, so they are out there in this storm and now they need to be rescued. What the hell are they thinking? So not only do they put themselves in harms way, they now put the coast guard in harms way, I know that the coast guard trains for this stuff but really.
