BRIEF: Share our heritage | Alpha Fire Company ambulance

By Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.)

Feb. 11--Each Monday the Centre Daily Times will publish an installment in our "Share our Heritage" series, featuring photos from Centre County's past. Today's photo is from Megdalina Grippi, the marketing, development and relationship manager for Centre LifeLink EMS.

She wrote: "Attached is a photograph of the 1941 Cadillac ambulance used by the Centre Region's first ambulance service, Alpha Fire Company Community Ambulance, which started out with one ambulance and four volunteers.

In 1972, the ambulance service became an independent non-profit organization, and in 2006, it changed its name to Centre LifeLink EMS, Inc.

Readers can contribute to the "Share our Heritage" series by sharing their own photos. Just drop off or mail copies of the photos to Centre Daily Times, 3400 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or email them to cdtphoto@centredaily.com. Provide as much information as you can. All photos in the weekly series are placed in a "Share our Heritage" gallery at CentreDaily.com.
