BRIEF: Ambulance crashes in Branford while transporting patient
Feb. 11--BRANFORD -- An ambulance transporting a patient to the hospital veered off the road into a snow embankment and flipped very early Monday morning, according to Fire Chief Jack Ahern.
Ahern said for reasons still undetermined a Hunter's ambulance went off the road while traveling on Interstate 95 near exit 52 around 3 a.m. Once off the road the vehicle crashed into a snow embankment, which then flipped the ambulance on its side.
When Branford crews arrived the patient was still inside the ambulance, Ahern said. He did not know their condition or why they were originally being taken to the hospital. Ahern said the two ambulance operators were okay and refused medical attention.
