BRIEF: Ambulance and van crash on Route 209, Stroud Township; 3 injured
Feb. 21--An ambulance and a minivan collided Wednesday night at a Route 209 intersection in Stroud Township, injuring a patient and two medical technicians in the ambulance, police said.
The 10:30 p.m. collision at Route 209 and Schafer School House Road knocked the West End Ambulance on its side, injuring the medics and a woman they were taking to Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, Stroud Area Regional police said.
All three were taken by a second ambulance to Pocono Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available. More than one person was in the van, but none was hurt, police said.
The ambulance was going north on Route 209 and had its lights and sirens on as it crossed Schafer School House Road, where the van ran into its side, police said.
The intersection was closed a half-hour for a cleanup.
Stroud Area police officer Joseph Susinskas was investigating the accident, which happened a little more than than a mile west of Stroudsburg.
